Your Point of Reference for Dental Health
Prevention and Maintenance of Dental Health – Dr Cristina Calamai, Dr Patrizia Gori, Dr Arianna Pellegrini
Daily oral hygiene practice is essential for the health of teeth and gums, as it prevents the development of cavities and gum disorders. The surface of the teeth, although it appears smooth to the naked eye, has rough areas where bacteria can lodge. These bacteria, when they proliferate, cause gum inflammation.
First oral hygiene session
During the first session of our
dental hygiene treatment in Florence, new patients are interviewed to learn about their oral hygiene habits. They are then instructed on a correct brushing technique and the use of floss and/or interdental brushes using special models for practical demonstrations.
Professional Oral Hygiene Sessions
Dental hygiene sessions, which consist of eliminating plaque above and below the gum line, are performed with manual instruments (curettes, scalers) and with sonic or ultrasonic equipment.
This process is essential to maintain healthy teeth and gums and prevent the formation of cavities and periodontal disease.
Personalised recalls
Recalls, or maintenance sessions, are personalised for each individual patient. During these sessions, the patient is remotivated and re-instructed in correct oral hygiene techniques.
The hygienist monitors the possible presence of relapses or problems that may arise over time, noting this data in the appropriate medical record.
